Well today was an interesting day. I got to play with all the new things that came in my Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. I really love these kits, they are a great value and beautifully put together!
I did end up taking my colors from the kit and using the card stock for this month, but I went in a complete circle getting there. Let me show you what I came up with and then I will explain it more.
Isn't cute!? It is a little busy, but I loved it in the end.

Love this little cupcake. It is from the Simon Says Stamp Set "Cupcake Party" I first stamped the wrapper with the back of the cupcake liner stamp, yeah I said the back. The part that usually sticks to the acrylic block. I stamped it in spun sugar distress ink, to get the shadow of the image. I then used the SSS ink in Lipstick red to stamp the actual lines. For the cake part I used color box chalk ink and then I went through the process of creating the gold "frosting."
I don't know if anyone has been crazy like me to try this, but might as well! The products I used indicate that a small amount is not toxic, but I cleaned these so well after I used them that I am not really worried. If you are a little worried and want to try. Go to your local grocery store and buy the plastic tips found in the baking section. That way you can keep everything separate. I am using a wilton star tip #16 and a disposable frosting bag.
First I cut my bag down to a more reasonable size. I am only using a very little amount of embossing paste. I have tried the white embossing paste and it has a great texture after with a more frosting feel to it, but I really wanted to see how this gold would turn out.
Next, I scooped a little in my bag trying to get it as close as I can to the bottom of the tip. I didn't use a tube cover like in the normal baking world. A tube cover usually is white and goes in the bag and you use the tip on the outside of the bag, but since I knew I wouldn't be changing tips it is pointless to get something else covered in this stuff.
So this is how it looks now. You will need to cut a good amount off the tip and squeeze your tip through just to make it tight enough. In order to squeeze it out I had to hold the tip and push the bag through it. It is really easy once you get the hang of it and if you are a baker you shouldn't have trouble.
Lastly, I added a few sequins to act as sprinkles and now let the waiting game begin. Ugh! it really did take this thing forever to dry. I don't think it was even fully dry when I finished the whole card. But, it was so much fun and it turned out so nice!
When I trimmed this out I made sure to even the sides and round the bottom a little more. I also cut as close to the back of the embossing paste, to make it look like there is no paper behind it.
